The Premise

As most people know I am a devout Catholic and thereby am a passionate advocate of Theology of the Body. *Wow I just had crazy deja-vu* (Don't you hate how deja-vu always go away upon recognizing it and pointing it out). Anyway, I have had the idea to write a fictional book to teach Theology of the Body through. So I am going to use this blog as a way to jumpstart this endeavor.

Prologue

In 2010 the birth rates in Europe and in the United States were just high enough to sustain the race. Europe had a less than 2.0 birth rate which means that the population was slowly decreasing. In the U.S.A it was approximately 2.1. Well it does not take a genius to see that with these trends, which is largely due to the effective and popular use of artificial birth control, the human race will cease to sustain itself in the long run. By 2022 both world powers were well below the 2.1 mark some areas reaching rates as low as 1.2. And in other areas of the world were rates were relatively high began using birth controls as regularly as the Europeans and Americans, and they were slowly developing the same trend. By 2040, things really began to go downhill in this world.
In 2010 there were more than 6 billion people, just 30 years later due to war, low birth rates, and euthanasia the population has decreased to 2 billion. Slowly, but surely less and less people inhabited the earth. People would not have children and if they got pregnant they would just abort the pregnancy because of the "inconvenience" of the child. This mentality even spread into christian groups, as peoples views on life became twisted and distorted. Not only would people not respect the unborn life, but the lives of the elderly were not respected either, they didn't even respect themselves. As soon as people began to feel the pangs of old age they opted to be released from that hardship by ways of euthanasia. Society was reaching an all time low. As I was saying earlier, even christian groups were adopting this lifestyle. Pastors were defending abortions and birth control as morally acceptable. In 2010, only 10-15% of Catholics practiced the churches teachings on contraception and in the 2008 presidential election nearly half of people who claim to have been Catholic supported a pro-abortion candidate.
By 2062, the population and dropped to under 1 billion people, but there was no longer a tangible way to keep track. The world 50 years before was connection through phones and internet, things that are slowly becoming merely a memory. As you read this story you will see how this came to be. There were no longer huge cities and skyscrapers, with state of the art technology at your fingertips, but tribes or communities throughout the world began to form as there were not enough people to provide the services needed to the lifestyle people became accustomed to 50 years before. Some of these communities were what was left of mainstream society, but they are slowly dying off because of the hardness of these peoples hearts. However, there were communities that were thriving, these were part of that strong 10-15% spoken of earlier.
There were 62 communities of devout practicing Catholics that were embracing God's gift of life in all aspects and were the only communities known to earth that continued to reproduce and let their elderly pass naturally. This story will focus on a few of the Texan tribes that are truly thriving in this new world. My prayer is that this story will outline the consequences of our society's progressive disrespect for life, and portray the beauty of welcoming and respecting all life in this world. This story begins on September 5th, 1979, the date of Pope John Paul II's first of 129 General Audiences on Theology of the Body.
